The 'if it's branded, it's genuine' thinking comes from an era when distribution was tightly controlled. That's changed. Online listings, resellers, and lookalike storefronts are part of the landscape now, and they aren't all bad. But a brand name on a box isn't the same as brand-authorized supply.
This was accurate as of mid-2024. The medical supply chain changes fast, so verify current sources and lot traceability before you order. That sounds like a compliance cliché until a box with a familiar name sits on your table and a thirty-five-cent caliper reading makes the difference between releasing it and returning it.
We ended up with the implants we needed, from a channel we could audit. The cost was a few extra days and one uncomfortable conversation. That's a trade I'll make every time.
