Honestly, I'm not sure why dental units get less scrutiny than implants during procurement. Two things matter more than the spec sheet suggests:
- Radiation dose profiles at the settings you'll actually use. Maximum-output specs are marketing; low-dose settings are what you live with daily.
- Service network distance. A C-arm down for two weeks waiting on a part is a surgical schedule in chaos. I've seen this cost a practice roughly $40,000 in rescheduled cases — the equipment cost was the smaller number.
The Straumann portfolio doesn't include C-arm systems directly; these are typically sourced from imaging specialists. But if you're building a guided-surgery suite around Straumann implants, imaging compatibility with your planning software should be confirmed before you sign anything.
6. How can I verify a Straumann component is genuine?
Three checkpoints I use every time:

If your case mix is dominated by single-unit, cost-sensitive restorations in a market where patients pay entirely out of pocket, the premium positioning may not match your economics. There are competent implant systems at lower price points — I won't name them, and I won't pretend they're equivalent in every dimension, but they're not automatically the wrong answer either.
Similarly, if your clinic has no digital workflow and no intention of building one, you're paying for integration capability you won't use. That's not a defect in the product; it's a mismatch in fit.
